This Week’s Pick is the story of Angela Carter and her works on dissension. We learn about how her dissension from social realism originated from her overprotective mother who wouldn’t even allow her to use the bathroom with the door closed and her first marriage which she described as ‘burning-all-bridges-of-escape-except-one’. But what did she really wanted to escape from? From rules? From society as a whole? She opposed everything,and even became Thatcherism antagonist, though her earlier works talked about feminism.
